Beer Babblings: If you really knew me…

This month's Beer Babblings is inspired by this little lady...

If you really knew me:

You’d you know that I extremely dislike being too hot.

You’d know that a car ride will put me right to sleep… just like a baby.

You’d know that I have to eat chocolate at least once every day.

You’d know that I hate my naturally curly hair.

You’d know that I am extremely indecisive, a quality that I’m trying to work on.

You’d know that I strive to be a perfectionist in almost everything I do – which stresses me out, like hardcore.

You’d know I am deathly afraid of thunderstorms, spiders, and I fear that our house is on fire any given night of the week.

You’d know that I love to travel, but HATE flying.  But I’d rather fly than drive, usually.

You’d know that my favorite hobby is photography; I just wish I had more time to do/learn about it.

You’d know that I randomly tap dance to songs while strolling the aisles in Target <-- hubby loveees when I do this. :)

You’d know that my husband cracks me up on a daily basis, and I really do love him unconditionally.  His latest quote, “I’ve got a booger that I can’t get out; it’s stuck on the landing strip!”

You’d know that I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up, and that it bothers me. A LOT.

You’d know that I almost just broke my tooth on an incredibly frozen ice cream treat I’m eating right now {mychocolatefix}

You’d know that I twirl strands of my hair between my fingers to relax.  Often times, I don’t even realize that I am doing it.

You’d know that I can whip up a chocolate malt like it’s nobody’s business.

You’d know that I could spend hours on end thrifting, but don’t get to go nearly as often as I’d like.

You’d know that both my mother and husband know me better than I know myself.

What would I know about you, if we were real life bffs?

Bitter-Sweet.

After nearly 5 years at the same job; I have accepted a new position with a different company.   Mostly due to better pay, better benefits, and more opportunity for advancement.   We’ll just leave it at that.

Today is my last day, and I am a little bitter-sweet about it.  I will miss all of the relationships I have created with my co-workers -- many of them whom I consider good friends and more than just co-workers.

The day I gave my two week notice, two people cried.  CRIED!  And then the whole office gang threw me a going away party last Friday, complete with gifts and all.

Makes a girl feel good to know that she was loved and will be missed.

It’s always hard to start something new and be the new kid on the block.  And it is true: sometimes the grass isn’t always greener.

But you know what?

I am gonna water my new grass everyday and make sure my flowers bloom.  This change has been a long time coming (many, many months of job searching) and just when you think you suck at life, a good thing happens.

Now if only the next 2 and ½ years of school would just fly by & complete itself, that’d be spectacular.

She needs glasses!

I remember the call like it was yesterday.

My sister, crying hysterically, mustered out in between tears and hiccupped breathing,
“She needs glasses!  She is only two years old!  Her little face is never going to be the same!”

I breathed a sigh of relief.
If eyeglasses is the only “bad” thing this niece of mine ever has to go through, God Bless her soul.

I quickly turned into Super Sister/Auntie mode and consoled my sister.  “Becky, are you forgetting that both you AND I had glasses by the age of three?  And look how great we turned out.  Did it affect our childhood… no.  Did it affect our friendships… no.  Did it affect the way we did things… no.   Well, except for the time we took our croakie floaters off too soon on the boat and our glasses dropped into the bay.  Dad was NOT a happy camper.... The point is, this is not the end of the world… think of all the kiddos who have it so much worse than Elena.  She went to the doctor today and found out she needed glasses, big deal?  Plus, she is gonna look amazing in them; she has the cutest button nose and they will give her so much character!”

And sure enough, they do:

One Year in the Books.

Today is my blogiversary.

It is crazy for me to think that a whole year has gone by already.  They say the older you get, the more time flies.  And boy, are they right.

I know it’s like proper blog etiquette to put together a really cool, super fantastic giveaway package and shout from the rooftops, “It’s my blogiversary!!!!!!!!”
But… since when do I follow all the rules?  I mean, I don’t even know what an RSS feed is.  Clearly, I have much to learn yet.

Instead, I just wanna say thanks.

Seriously, THANK YOU all so much.
This blog has come a long way since my first post.   But more importantly, so have I.

I have learned to step back, smell the roses, and appreciate the little things.  That is what makes life so great.  And you, the people.  You guys are great and beyond inspiring.  Even though I will never meet a majority of you in “real life,” I consider you a “real life” friend.   I have grown tremendously as a person, and I believe I have the blog world to thank for that.

So even if today is the first time you’re reading,
or if you’ve been a faithful follower from Day 1, thank you!

Rainbow love.

I am that girl.

The one that when it rains and the sun magically comes out, will hunt down a rainbow like it's nobody's business.
It instantly turns into a mission.  Where is it?  It's gotta happen.
All of the conditions are right.  I gotta spot it.  "Zaccc, where the heck is it?!"

And then we spot it.  Ahhhhh.

A smile comes to my face, and I think of the acronym that we all learned in the 4th grade, ROYGBIV.  And then I secretly chant over and over in my head: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.  Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.  Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
OCD much?  Yeah.
There is just something about a rainbow. It mesmerizes me.  I know its because the raindrops falling from the sky act like a prism and when sunlight passes through the raindrops at the proper angle it is split into its spectrum, which is made up of the colors of the rainbow. Duh.
{I totally Googled that}.
But I like to think God's and Mother Nature's forces come together, and they form us a pretty sight for us to feast our beady little eyes on.

Heck, rainbows even make you want to go outside in your pajamas & rain boots and gaze for a good 15 minutes, under an umbrella.

Good ol' rainbows.

Don't you just love them?

Clearly, I have a thing for florals and flowers in general this summer.
{Here, Here, & Here}
Then I spotted this little number at New York & Company the other day.
I instantly fell in love with it.

An Epiphany and the Farmer's Market.

There I was at the Farmer’s Market.  Strolling up and the down the vendor covered streets with my husband – among rows of fresh, home-grown produce and luscious bouquets of flowers, and I had an epiphany.

My.city.is.really.cool.

Ok, now when I say “my city” let’s all recall how I actually live in the Boondocks, right between two corn fields.  My city – Green Bay – is about a 30 minute drive from where I actually live.

Never-the-less, while chomping on Jambalaya and sniffing aromas of deep-fried bacon, I wondered why I never actually took the time {or had the desire} to explore my own city.

I always dream of exploring places like France and Italy… New York and Seattle… heck, even Omaha.  When in all reality, I don’t even know my own city.  Time and time again, we go to the same restaurants, the same shopping centers, and the same places for entertainment.  I feel like we don’t branch out enough…

When people ask me, “So… what’s there to do in Green Bay?” …all I can think to tell them is to tour Lambeau Field.  That’s it?  I can’t think of anything else?  Well, surely, that is fun… but there is SO much more Green Bay has to offer, and I’ve set my sails to find out what.

I’ll be sharing my explorations with you, in the form of:

So first up, the Farmer’s Market on Broadway {according to my iphone}.
If you were coming to visit me during the summer months, on a Wednesday evening, I’d take you to the Farmer’s Market on Broadway.

Located on the quaintest of streets, with over 200 vendors offering fresh produce, luscious flowers, homemade goodies & crafts off all kinds – oh , and not to mention all the yummy prepared food you can get too, this event is a must do!

Upon arrival, we were immediately starving.  After sampling cheesecake, BBQ sauce, and roasted soy beans, Zac inhaled a BBQ Pork Brisket sandwich and I opted for a corn dog.

Then we strolled down the street of vendors....

Finding everything from belly dancing to homemade dog treats!

We purchased some gold cherries and a bouquet of fresh cut flowers.

After that, our tummies were still hungry, so we shared a bowl of jambalaya.

On the way home, Zac made a detour and we stopped at Smart Cow to savor some frozen yogurt.  It was pretty much amazing and it’s a good thing I live 30 miles away from it… otherwise my pocket book would be lighter and my waistband would be larger.

SOOOO good I tell you!

All in all, a wonderful Wednesday date night.

My stomach is full, my heart is happy, and my kitchen is sporting some beautiful flowers!
